The dog stands alert, on all fours, head cocked, ears and tail perked, wearing a collar, skin folds indicated, the face and toe-nails painted.

METTLACH

 

C032-DECORATED RELIEF STEIN

 

 

A large (3.8L) Mettlach pewter mounted glazed stoneware stein, depicting the town of Rodenstein. The cylindrical vessel molded in low relief with a continuous scene of red-roofed houses, towers and churches rising from a dense thicket of green trees, with inscribed scrolling banners over an outset circular base molded with foliage and berries, the inlaid lid with a crenulated castle molded in high relief.

Impressed model number 2038 and factory marks on bottom.
