Ollie Montgomery Perry (1881-1964)
Ollie Montgomery was born in Missouri on May 25, 1881. Ollie moved with her husband, John Perry, to San Diego in about 1915. There she studied painting with Alfred R. Mitchell (circa 1930) and later maintained a studio in Spanish Village in Balboa Park, where she specialized in still lifes, florals and local landscapes. Recognized as being among the pioneering woman painters of San Diego, she continued to paint into the 1950's and died in San Diego on March 21, 1964. Ollie was an active member of the San Diego Art Guild and the Los Sureños Art Center. Exhibited: San Diego FA Gallery, 1927; Calif.-Pacific Int'l Expo (San Diego), 1935; La Jolla Art Center, 1945.
