CZ235 (B265)-Meissen Shepherd Playing the Flute and His Dog

Meissen-Shepherd Playing the Flute and His Dog, 1747. [Height: 6" / Marks: Cross swords in underglaze blue marking placed on rim at back of stand suggesting that this was an early model].-Figure modelled by J.J. Kandler and P. Reinicke. Minor restorations. [See Adams, Meissen Portrait Figures, p. 47; Rückert, Meissner Porzellan des 18. Jahrhunderts, (1977), Nr. 972, Pl. 236.]

 

CZ236 (B297)-Meissen Gentleman and Pug Dog

Meissen-Gentleman and Pug Dog, circa 1748. [Height: 4 1/2" Marks: Underglaze blue mark (cross swords ?) on inner rim of stand; Impressed Nr. "4292" outer base of stand].-The seated man's coat is green with intricate lacework cuffs. [See Adams, Meissen Portrait Figures, p. 26].

 

CZ218 (B81)-Meissen Vinegar Cruet and Cover

 

Meissen-Vinegar Cruet and Cover, circa 1745. [Height: 6 1/4" / Marks: Crossed swords in underglaze blue].-This cruet has smooth lines, fine paste, a spout with a mask at its base and an elaborately curved handle. It is a piece from a "Plat de ménage", which usually contained a vinegar cruet, mustard pot and stand. [For shape comparison see Honey, Dresden China, (1934), Plt. XXX1b, p. 91].
