FRANCES ALICE KEFFER (1881-1953)

Born in Des Moines, Iowa on Jan. 6, 1881. Keffer studied in Des Moines with Frank Brangwyn, Alexander Robinson, Ossip Linde, and at the Pratt Institute. She moved to San Diego in about 1920. She taught there for several years, and appears to have divided her time between San Diego and Hillsdale, NJ until the early 1940s. She painted still lifes and many views of the La Jolla and Torrey Pines coast. She died in San Diego on March 21, 1953. She was the sister of artist Florence Hale.
