This work is a study for the Ellen Browning Scripps Memorial. A larger cast is now permanantly installed on the lawn of the La Jolla Recreation Center. It replaces a much-beloved similar-themed sculpture, created in the 1930's by James Tank Porter, that was stolen in 1998.
